Kevään 2012 aikana DJ-lisenssimaksuihin liittyvä keskustelu muuttui pienen piirin puuhastelusta valtakunnalliseksi aiheeksi, joka nousi esille ministeritasolla asti.
Tapahtunut tähän mennessä:
Tammikuu 2011: Gramex istuu mukaan neuvottelupöytään Teoston kanssa pidetyssä palaverissa. Gramex (ja Teosto) mainitsee keskustelussa, että DJ-lisenssissä on ongelmia ja sitä pitää kehittää.
Huhtikuu 2011: Kolme kuukautta myöhemmin Gramex aloittaa DJ-ratsiat mm. Turussa ja Tampereella. Iskuissa mukana ollut Gramexin lakimies vastaa puhelimessa asiaa koskeviin kysymyksiin.

23.04.2012 Vaikka aiemmin Gramex väitti, että myös CC-lisensoidusta musiikista tulisi maksaa lisenssimaksua, nyt Gramexin Tuomas Talonpoika vastaa, että näin ei ole.
23.04.2012 Gramexin Lauri Kaira ilmoittaa Alex Niemiselle:
“Emme toistaiseksi osallistu DJ-tarkastuksiin, ja lopetetaan asian puiminen julkisesti!”. Alex julkaisee ilmoituksen Facebookissa.
DJ-tarkastuksista luopumisesta huolimatta Gramex hakee MOL.fi-sivulla edelleen kahta edustajaa tarkastuskäynneille musiikkiliikuntaa tarjoaviin yrityksiin. Aiemmin MOL.fi sivuilla ollut työnhakuilmoitus lisenssiasioihin erikoistuneesta lakimiehestä on poistunut.
24.04.2012 Kansanedustaja Oras Tynkkynen esittää Facebookissa luonnoksen kirjalliseksi kysymykseksi Gramexin DJ:iltä perimistä korvauksista.

01.10.2012 Gramexin Lauri Kaira kirjoittaa asiakaslehdessään liikunnanohjaaja- ja DJ-lisenssien uudistuksesta.
25.10.2012 Teosto kutsuu DJ:t uudelleen koolle maanantaiksi 30.10. Viime kokouksessa DJitä oli toistakymmentä, tällä kertaa kutsun saa (tai paikalle ilmoittaa pääsevänsä) kuusi DJitä. Teosto aikoo esitellä DJ-lupaan tehtäviä muutoksia sekä automaattista musiikkiraportointipilottia.
30.10.2012 Teoston palaverissa käy ilmi, että Teosto ja Gramex aikovat startata yhteislisenssin. Lisäksi tarkennetaan, että Beatport-kappaleista ja promoista ei tarvitse maksaa lisenssiä lainkaan. Katso palaverimuistio ja palaveritweetit.

A fresh looking Finnish webzine Kehto started some weeks ago on the obvious address www.kehto.fi.
Kehto describes itself shortly:
KEHTO Magazine on suomalainen, elektroniseen tanssimusiikkiin keskittynyt verkkolehti. Tavoitteenamme on tarjota kotimaan bilekansalle uutisia, sekä levy- että laitearvosteluja, reportaaseja menneistä ja tulevista tapahtumista sekä tarjota henkilö- ja artistihaastatteluja niin kotimaisista kuin ulkomaisistakin artisteista.
From my perspective, Kehto is very promising newcomer for various reasons:
** Despite being built on WordPress, it’s not and doesn’t try to be a blog.
** It takes advantage of social media like Facebook and Twitter.
** It isn’t related on one music genre only, it has several “reporters” and it’s being updated often (not often enough, though;).
** It writes articles, reviews and stories – not short opinions or posts.
** It doesn’t represent anyone – and therefore – it has credibility.
** It’s written in Finnish.
I believe the future of online forums like Klubitus.org or Pltnm.org is a format like this. Combining online discussion forum to a platform where experts and promoters write articles about the music scene is a concept, which I’d really love to see. Maybe within one year Kehto could be combined to a vital discussion forum or it could even start its own. Anyway, I raise my thumbs up to a new kid in town! :)

Great news! Misc. Management presents the Official DJ Hero Launch Event on 24.10.2009 at Helsinki Club. If you ask me, DJ Hero is one of the coolest and most innovative products in gaming industry in a while and I’m super excited of this possibility.
The launch event is the first chance to get your hands on the game, which will be officially released a couple of days after that. We will also run a contest to give you a possibility to win the game for yourself (Xbox/PS3/Wii).
DJ Hero Launch Event is a part of Extremely Miscbehaving (Facebook Event) event with Andy Moor, Ian Ossia and DJ Orkidea headlining. I will be hosting the game room on the upper floor of Helsinki Club. A good combination of music and entertainment, indeed.

Thursday August 6: Madonna West Harbour, Helsinki, Finland
The sun is still with us as we cross on the ferry from Tallinn to Helsinki. The ride over is a laugh and the food excellent!
Arriving at the hotel its: out of the car, avoid being run down by cyclist, meet the promoter for tomorrow night club gig at Circus, then check into our hotel. As with all his club gigs on this tour, Paul has his DJ equipment from his rider set up in his hotel room on arrival. This allows him to listen to material for on-going projects (which there are many of) plus new tracks from CD’s to try out for that night’s set. It’s a good system that works on many different levels.
From the dock, we can view the staging on West Harbour (the site for tomorrows concert), it’s massive. Disembarking of the boat, Paul gets talking to a Finnish Madonna fan who praises what an amazing show it was in Tallinn, and how the Finnish crowd will be even better at the tomorrows show. We can believe that, Tallinn was a good crowd but the Finns are known more for expressing themselves.
The following day, leaving the hotel for the gig, the constant flow of traffic seems to head in the direction of the West Harbour. The closer we get, it turns into a procession of people; the whole of Helsinki’s is turning out for Madonna.
Once his arm is taped again, Paul is well enough to play. It’s awkward, but he arrives on stage to an absolute mass of (what later was recorded as) 98,000 people. Still, getting them to warm up and have a good time is no easy job. Gradually, the crowd follows his every gesture until being completely persuaded by the appearance of Madonna’s dancers, who are now a part of this ritual warm up. The sight of this mass of smiling people is 100% satisfying. This has been a most awesome crowd!

I’ll take a break for a day or two and prepare for Oulu’s Age of Love event held in Radisson SAS next Saturday. I have great memories from the events held there back in the day and I’ve heard only good of the previous Age of Love events, too so the expectations are high :) If you’re anywhere close to Oulu and into Psy-trance, trance, hard-nrg or techno, this should be something to check. I’ll be playing at 22:45-00:15 in the main room.

When you’re doing club events and clubbing as a lifestyle, hobby and work at some point you just lose big amount of the enthusiasm of going out and to the clubs. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still very nice and enjoyable, but you’re lacking the excitingness.
The Tullikamari raves in Tampere in ’94-’96 and Love Parade in ’99 were fantastic experiences for a young teenage boy, but I haven’t had a similar huge emotion rush in a party too many times ever since.
Well, Pacifique had it all. The exciting and nostalgic boom in your chest, anxious waiting to get there and a pure and energetic feeling of happiness. I had heard about the uplifting water splashing at the main arena, but that and several other details are just something you can’t describe if you haven’t been there yourself.
It was a totally unique concept well executed. I’m happy of getting the possibility of being there last night.
