Fantastic concept and great party! Monitor PA was slightly underpowered and caused some small inaccuracies in the mix but who cares – the energy was still 100% there!

Tupa täysi, himmee meno, ja kävipä vielä niin että mua seuranneella liveartistilla oli teknisiä haasteita, jolloin oma setti venähti 20min pitkäksi. 💥 Oon mielissäni että tää tuli talteen – tää on just sitä soundia jonka soittamisesta nautin tällä hetkellä eniten – pieni kasa omia tän hetken suosikkeja ja muutama klassikkokin värittämässä. I’ve said it many times and it got proved correct once again: the atmosphere/vibe/stimmung/whateveryoucallit at 100-200 people events is often waaaay better than at 1000+ people events. 💪 Last Saturday I was offered a possibility to play at one of my favorite underground locations in Helsinki – exactly one of those 100-200 capacity venues. Full house, amazing energy and it happened that the next live act had some technical problems which extended my set by 20min. 💥 I’m sincerely happy this got recorded – this is exactly the sound I currently enjoy the most, a set full of my current favorites + a couple of classics. ‘Today’s guest is the Finnish dj, producer and labelowner Orion.
Juska Wendland aka Orion is based in Helsinki, owns an amazing label called Absence Of Facts, is besides Techno also a producer for Downtempo and Ambient and hosts his own radio show every Friday 7 – 10 PM on Ylex, the Finnish National Radio.
I came across his work months ago, when i discovered one of his collaborations with the swedish mastermind Cari Lekebusch.
Orion just told me that they had a really good studio session in February – four 134-136bpm tracks are coming out in the upcoming months. He really enjoys working with him in a studio he said – this was the third time and as they both know now how they are used to work the tracks, it’s easy to just fire up the machines and get going.
His label Absence of Facts is going strong – Orion said: “I believe small indie labels have a lot of potential in the future, especially outside of mainstream music. AOF has lots of new releases in the pipeline – and I see the project is more than just a record label. I can channel all sort of arts out with the releases – the cover art is a series of abandoned places I’ve visited around the world and the video clips are series of experiments with After Effects.”‘

Orion & J.Shore – Isolatedmix 35
A Strangely Isolated Place, a website, label and online community of ambient, chill-out and downtempo music, asked us (Orion & J.Shore) to make a mix for their Isolatedmix series. Isolatedmix is like Global Underground of the chill-out scene: artists like Ulrich Schnauss, Nick Warren, Carbon Based Lifeforms and Helios have contributed their own Isolatedmixes.
The mix is now online and streamable/downloadable on Soundcloud. It includes 18 tracks – mostly Scandinavian chill-out, some unreleased tracks and some tunes made exclusively for this mix only. I’m very happy of the result. I hope you enjoy it too.

Like the massive spectrum of music in my head, Finnish brothers Orion and J.Shore usually sit at opposite ends on the music production front. Juska (Orion), grew up on the early 90′s hypnotic trance sound such as Cygnus X’s album “Hypermetrical” and Sven Väth’s “The Harlequin – The Robot And The Ballet-Dancer” and for the past five years has hosted a variety of electronic music on his National Finnish Radio show. In a vein I can very much relate to, these early 90′s records…

I’m really excited about this. The nice guys at DJ Mag asked me to do an official mix for their “DJ Mag presents” series. Because I’m working weekly quite radio friendly mixes for YleX, I decided to take a bit more undergroundish approach to this. Here’s a techno/house mix, which in my opinion is the best dancefloor orientated DJ mix which I’ve done in years. It’s a mixture of Helsinki’s Jack club’s sounds, the After Hours vibe and has been influenced a lot by the last 1,5 years in Berlin.

281 is a 4,5h chill-out mix, compiled during this autumn. It includes some of my favorite tracks from the past two years, a couple of classics and some Orion & J.Shore tracks, too. Musically, the vibe goes from ambient to downtempo and further to a bit more orchestral chill-out tunes in the end.
