Here’s a video covering the whole last weekend in Northern Finland – definitely one of the highlights of this summer, good vibrations, lots of happy people and techno music. Excellent combination.
There’s also the official Sunburn 2010 video, if you didn’t see it yet.
What comes to the video, thanks again to Kaasi. He delivers. :)
Thanks to Kaasi for the video.
A funky weekend in Northern Finland coming up. On Friday 16.7. I’ll head to Kajaani’s #1 venue Club 96 with my dear friend DJ Kaasi. As usual, we play a full 6h set – it’s been a tradition for 7-8 years in a row already and it’s still a bliss to go there.
On Saturday Oulu-possé is organizing AEM Festival where the local music lovers not only share the breaks & beats but also spice the small-scale festival with saunas, beach volley fields and some crazy water activities. Very cool, very Finnish.
I’ll be playing a 1,5h super eclectic set at the festival before heading to Dyyni’s Sunburn event. It’s my 11th time in Dyyni, totally missed the 10th time celebrations, but let’s make the 11th time as special as the previous nights :) Three hour set expected, starting around 00:30. Kaasi does the warm-up, couldn’t be any better.
Good summery vibes, jump in to say hi if you’re around.
And yeah, I’ll be photologging as we go – check the constantly updating photo stream – selected moments from the road.

I’m really looking forward to this weekend in Northern Finland. It’s been already a year I last visited Rovaniemi and I can’t wait get back to the old hoods :) Friday will be spent at Doris in Rovaniemi hosted by Helmi (Facebook event) and Saturday is for returning back to Kalajoki after summer to the Sunburn Winter Event at Dyyni (Facebook event).
Good stuff. See you all there :)
Oh yeah, here’s a video from last year’s trip. Snow and lots of weirdos :)
P.S. Below is a Rovaniemi&Kalajoki TOP3 chart from all of us. Check it ouuut. Read More
On the upcoming weekend I’m playing my last gigs before a short paternity leave. On Friday I’ll be heading to Tampere to Club Play, a summer club running at Apollo. It’s been a while that I’ve played a house set in Tampere and I’m really looking forward to this. My slot should be starting around midnight.

On Saturday I’ll fly to Kalajoki to headline the local Sunburn event, one of the longest running summer club concepts in Northern Finland. I’ve lost my count if this is already the 6th or 7th year in a row I’m visiting Kalajoki in the summer, but it definitely hasn’t lost its vibe. Kalajoki – as mentioned numerous times before – is the “Ibiza of Finland” and the venue, Dyyni, is easily among the coolest clubs in the north with a panorama view to the sea and the whole building standing on a huge sand dune. The house music maestro of the north, DJ Kaasi will be doing the warm-up and I’ll be playing a 2-2,5h set in the end of the night. See the video from last year’s party below or check some photos from the past years.

The atmosphere at Sunburn, Dyyni, Kalajoki was awesome. They say Kalajoki is the Ibiza of Finland (I kinda get the “Markku From Finland” feeling after sentences like that…), but I never got to experience the real warm summer weather there. The same happened now – Helsinki & Tampere were boiling hot and I landed to Oulu to chilly 11C. After a bungee jump from 65m (*brrrrr*…), some sightseeing and a small get-together with a couple of Oulu promoters, the party broke loose right after midnight.
I don’t know about a perfectly structured set, but the night was full of twists and turns. I had prepared to play a bit more trancey stuff to the end, but despite a couple of classics (“Hale Bopp” & “Greece 2000”) (prog)trance really didn’t seem to find it’s place on the dancefloor. While the new Anjunabeats’ “Zeppelin” was a total turn-off, tracks like “JS16 – My Rosegarden”, “Sebastian – Ross Ross Ross” and “Mark Knight – Columbian Soul” made the downstairs of Dyyni go mental.
Getting stuck into progressive and electro house for the full three hours was nothing but pleasing. I think there is much more original trance feeling in several progressive house tracks these days than what you can find when browsing through the labels dedicated purely to (prog)trance.
Big thanks to open and crrrazy Kalajoki crowd, the superb nice staff of Dyyni – and Kaasi, who keeps on doing one of the most remarkable club series in the north. A couple of photos available here, videos available soon on the media page.
