Linkage: Skate video, Radio column, Awesome & mysterious music project

By UncategorizedNo Comments

Like skate boarding? Even if you wouldn’t, I recommend to check this video out: Ride.

Jyrki Lehtola writes (in Finnish only, sorry) about the quality and content of radio channels. Easily the best writing I’ve read in ages: Radio kysyy kansalta.

Iamamiwhoami, a mysterious artist I’ve been tweeting earlier is now selling her music already, the latest track came out yesterday. This is the most haunting, interesting and creepiest music project I’ve seen in a long while. I recommend you check all her videos, they üüübercool. The music is available to buy on iTunes Music Store.
Iamamiwhoami’s Youtube, Facebook, iTMS.

One of Iamamiwhoami’s videos below or here.

Music

In 2008, 1500 albums sold more than 10000 copies. Out of these 1500, 227 artists did it for the first time. And out of 227, 14 did it without a record-label. 106 were signed to a major label, rest to indie labels. Facts @ Music Think Tank.

Spotify fan? Try these: Spotibot & Listify.

Great chill-out mix from Tom Middleton. Download.

Four album from 808 State getting re-mastered and re-released. Original release years were between 1989 and 1993. Oldskool.

Pacifique makes artist interviews of this year’s artists. See them all here (more posted every week).

Gramophonedzie’s big hit from last summer gets a proper and pretty entertaining music video.

Linkage: Miika Saksi, Derrick May, TTVK.

Some music & design related links & ideas from the past days.

Miika Saksi (yeah, the guy who made the first Love poster – and much more) – has opened his blog. Cool stuff, check it out.

Derrick May, one of the most famous vinyl supporters has given the much hyped new Transmat release exclusively to Beatport. A good blog post about that – “Yo Derrick, what the fuck?”

In Finland, antipiracy organization TTVK has sued a file sharer (aka a pirate!) for over 3,6 million euros. C-r-a-z-y. Meanwhile, Future of Music blog writes music business is less and less about selling records.
So, where does that sum – 3600000 EUR – come from?
