Photos, Vibes & Video: Prima, Jyväskylä, 29.05.2011

Prima, Jyväskylä. Maanantaiaamu 03:00.

I’m still speechless of the Sunday vibe that Prima had in Jyväskylä on 29.05.2011. I had arrived without expectations, and even though I heard that the party would be good, I’d never expect it would be that good. The promoters KariM and Axxu warmed up the floor with proper underground tech-house/prog vibe and it was really easy to take over after a really well built-up early night.

I must say it’s not that often when you really can musically go just the way you choose without any compromises, but this was just that. My first 45 minutes were all about techno and tech-house, Slam, Kaiserdisco, Butch, Umek etc, before taking the more melodic way towards the final Blur moment (check the video). And all the way, from tech-house to techno, to prog house, some electro and trance vibes the crowd was open-minded and living the Sunday night like there was no Monday in sight.

If you’re in Jyväskylä and there’s Prima night that Sunday, make no mistake, you need to see that. It’s one of the best Sunday clubs in Finland at the moment. Period.

Massive thanks to Kari & Axxu for inviting me over and big, big shouts to Jyväskylä partiee piipls! Brilliant!

Busy weekend coming up – XmiX with Proteus, YleXPop and Prima @ JKL

Prima, Jyväskylä, 29.5.2011

This looks like a weekend worth waiting. Tonight (Friday) we’ll be getting a special treat from Finnish hard dance master Proteus who delivered a superb XmiX combining industrial, hard trance, acid and techno and shared some secrets in a short interview. Tune in to YleX at 22:00. More info here.

On Saturday, YleX festival called YleXPop takes over the centrum of Helsinki spreading to Lasipalatsi square, Tavastia, Bar Loose and Bio Rex. I’ll be hosting the event at Bio Rex together with Chyde from Mestarisoundi and Matti from Parasta Ennen. I’ll be playing between 23:00 and 01:30, mainly in the spirit of the festival and on a housey tip. Here’s the Facebook event of Bio Rex club and the whole festival.

Sunday sees no rest as I’ll be travelling to Jyväskylä where club Prima will be having an official summer starter. Despite being a Sunday night club, I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews (literally!) from their events. It’s been a long while I’ve last visited Jyväskylä and the city really brings back some fine memories. Shouts to Pimiö possé and Anchors Up! events, not to forget long lived Niitty crew. Anchors Up, Jyväskylä

Jyväskylän m/s Rhealla pidetyt Anchors Up -kesäbileet onnistuivat mitä mainioimmin, oli todella erinomainen fiilis olla mukana soittamassa. Ainoa mitä laivalta puuttui, oli jatkuva auringonpaiste – pilvinen keli ei täysin ole kesäbileiden ykkösjuttu, mutta onneksi aurinkoa saatiin näkyviin ja vieläpä osuvasti parhaiden kesäbiisien aikana. Jyväskylää koko päivän vaivanneet sadekuurot eivät ulapalle seuranneet, joten onneakin oli kelin puolesta kyllä kyydissä.

Viivyin Jyväskylässä vielä ylimääräisen päivän poistamassa stressiä ja nauttimassa Tuomiojärven maisemista ja JKL-possen mainiosta seurasta :)

Tässä tracklist omaan pääosin kesätunnelmointia sisältäneeseen settiin.

Ignition at Elohuvi, Jyväskylä

Jarno ja kumppanit olivat kyllä laittaneet erinomaiset keskiviikkokekkerit pystyyn Jyväskylän Elohuviin. Mestoilla oli noin 650 ihmistä ja yllättävän paljon rankemmalle soundille vihkiytynyttä porukkaa. Oli ilo soittaa hieman vanhasoundipainotteisempi setti, vaikka harmiksi DJ-kopin monitorit suolsivat pelkkää puuroa ulos ja alkusetin aikana toisesta levarista katosi vasen kanava. Loppua kohti homma kuitenkin kasaantui takaisin raiteilleen ja vaikka en juuri pelkillä luureilla miksaamista kannatakaan, niin siihenkin täytyi nöyrtyä :)
Tässä vielä iltaman tracklistaus, kiitos järjestäjille ja Jyväskylän yleisölle, joka kyllä harvemmin on pettänyt odotuksia :)
