Dave Dresden. The man from the Gabriel&Dresden fame and a very rare sight on a gig in Europe. Truly a master of music and responsible of several classics like As The Rush Comes and remix of Rachel Starr’s Till There Was You. I’m happy to have him finally in Helsinki.
Joonas Hahmo. One of the most promising Finnish acts, Joonas is definitely the man of the moment. Not playing too often in Helsinki, Joonas takes the final slot to end the night with a style. And yes, good news just in – Joonas will soon perform his first live gig at this year’s Pacifique event.

“It was after a gig in Slovenia during the summer of ’06. I DJed at an outdoor party and I distinctly remember removing a piece of gaffer tape that was stopping the master level going any higher. I took it off and boosted the level to the max because I was playing really quiet, un-mastered track that needed some extra power. After that I just left it up and forgot about it, such was my drunken state. The monitors must have been blasting extra loud, not to mention the PA. I went straight to an afterhours club and played another set, where I stayed until the early morning. When I left, I remember thinking my ears were ringing more than usual, but didn’t really care because this was normal after a gig and the ringing always stopped the next day. When I woke the next afternoon I could still hear the ringing, but still assumed it would soon pass, however, the next day it was still there. And the next day… By this stage I was starting to get a little anxious and I was beginning to pay a lot of attention to the sound in my head.”

Tiistain Tanssi-illan biisivieraana 28.10.2008 kuullaan Oulun uuden aallon DJ ja promoottori Gatewayta. Pohjoisessa useita klubiprojekteja luotsannut Gateway luo katsauksen Oulun ja Pohjois-Suomen klubimenoihin ja pyöräyttää biisivierasbiisinään hieman vanhempaa housempaa soundia.
Biisivieras Tiistain Tanssi-illassa joka toinen viikko. DJ Orionin tunnilla klo 21-22 esittäytyvät vieraat kuuluvat Suomen elektronisen musiikin artistien kärkikaartiin ja tuovat ohjelmaan oman musiikillisen antinsa esittelemällä valitsemansa biisin.
Tiistain Tanssi-illassa lisäksi Gabriel&Dresden / Dave Dresden -spesiaali. Pian Suomeen saapuva Dave Dresden valitsi Tiistain Tanssi-illan soittoon parhaat ja mielenkiintoisimmat kappaleensa huikealta tuotantouraltaan. Daven lisäksi soitossa muunmuassa Andy Moor, pian Suomeen saapuva Francesco Farfa ja house-hitiksi povattu uusi sinkku Milton Jackson & Sei A:lta.

Infected Mushroom hits Helsinki for the third time this Saturday. The party will be held at Suvilahden Voimala, which has also been the home of Flow Festival in the past years. The main act will be supported by quite a bunch of domestic DJs including Eliot Ness, Milla Lehto, Indigo, Casper and several more. I’ll be starting up the madness at the main floor with a laid-back prog/psy/technoish set, see you there!
Jack is back after a short break, turning five and being as nasty and stubborn yet adorable as a five-year-old can be. The fifth anniversary birthday guest is Jody Wisternoff from the Way Out West fame, one of my early musical heroes and a guy who still keeps delivering. His podcast is a great example of his wide music taste and abilities as a DJ, make sure to subscribe :) The domestic sound of the night will be taken care by the long-time Jack residents DJ Orkidea and Lil’Tony.

On Saturday, 20.12. ONE will present SolarStone on his RainStarsEternal tour, DJ Orkidea for the first time in Tampere after his gig break and myself warming up the head honchos.
I’ll take a break for a day or two and prepare for Oulu’s Age of Love event held in Radisson SAS next Saturday. I have great memories from the events held there back in the day and I’ve heard only good of the previous Age of Love events, too so the expectations are high :) If you’re anywhere close to Oulu and into Psy-trance, trance, hard-nrg or techno, this should be something to check. I’ll be playing at 22:45-00:15 in the main room.

The second One event is happily behind. 350 people shared the great atmosphere and the Australian guest seemed to enjoy a lot, despite a bitter defeat against the Finnish national techno bowling team on Sunday afternoon ;)
Aki A. warmed up the floor nicely and got the hands in the air with the last uplifting tracks like OneWorld – Isla Blanca. Jaytech continued with his trademark sound, played a superb set and ended it with Hawk – Out Of Nowhere (Joonas Hahmo remix) and Jaytech & Matt Rowan – Tomorrow, which seemed to be the highlights for the crowd, too. I played the last set on a bit more trancey tip and the Tampere audience was once again truly amazing. Moguai – “U Know Y” (Starecase remix) was one of my own favourites, not least because of the fitting “You Are The Lucky ONEs” lyrics. See the full tracklist below.
Thumbs up for the One promoters Uzu & Flight for keeping the quality high and making fresh and bold decisions concerning the lineups. Actually (and partly sadly, too) I can’t remember when a progressive style foreign artist would have visited Tampere last time. Jaytech proved that you don’t need big-room style trance jocks in order to attract melodic electronic music loving crowds and that energetic and intensive music doesn’t go hand-in-hand with high BPMs.
One takes a break until December and returns with Orkidea and Solar Stone on 20.12.2008. See you!
