It’s been over four months since Uzu phoned me they’ve found a proper venue for upcoming One events. After two successful years in Tanssitalo, we were sad to leave the old venue behind but clearly this seemed like a proper replacement for a well served humppa-venue. Now, after four months of preparing to get reunited, I think we had a pretty good start last night at Pellava, the new home of One.

It was nice to see drS warming up the floor and filling it in less than an hour with great oldskoolish, proggy vibes (I’m really looking forward to see his full tracklist..), Something Good delivered something good with their new tunes and more housey & bassheavy approach which worked really well and Jussi Soro ended the night with his trademark trancey tunes (including Atlantis Ita’s I See You In The Next Life as encore).

I was happy to see our new re-edits going down really well – the brand new edit of Slusnik Luna’s Sun had its premiere last night and it was nice to see crowd recognizing the Heaven Scent re-edit already long before the main riff hit in. The full tracklist is listed above.

Funktion One & Battery Sound System did their thing, too. It’s been a while when you’ve really felt the music in your chest like that. The stone walls gave an extra *ooomph* to the bass, but also a nasty echo to the DJ-booth, which seemed to bother all the DJs a bit. I heard the same sound system will be used next time at Laterna when Romance enters the venue on 8.5. I can imagine due to smaller venue it’ll be even more intensive sound experience and definitely worth a check.

Battery Sound System also included CDJ-2000s, so this was the first time for me to test them on a gig. I took the most out of it and also used USB sticks instead of CDs. It was reliable, fast and very convinient, but it’ll definitely take a while to get used to browse the music collection on a small screen instead of a CD-case – I still like the physical format. Despite that, I’m really looking forward to CDJ-2000s becoming club standard players – they feel good :)

Anyway, I was happy to see so many people smiling, partying carelessly and getting into Tampere-fiilis. One got a good start at Pellava – sure there were some things which will be done better in the future (and we’re more than happy to hear any suggestions from you) – but nevertheless, we’re now looking forward to early June. On 5.6. Pellava will host another One-event with “Tampere Classics” theme. Big tunes all night long :) To get the info first, you can follow One at Twitter or keep refreshing www.one-event.info every 30seconds or so ;)

Radio NRJ:n viikonloppujen uutena DJ:nä aloittavaa DJ Orionia kuullaan joka kuukauden toisena lauantaina At The Club -ohjelman toisella tunnilla klo 23:00-00:00.

13.3.2010 kuultavassa lähetyksessä on biisivieraana helsinkiläinen Something Good -duo, joka on kerännyt huomiota Suomen klubipiireissä ja varmistanut jo alkuvuodesta paikkansa tämän vuoden tulokkaana. Useilla ulkomaisilla labeleilla julkaissut kaksikko on tehnyt ensiesiintymisensä tämän vuoden puolella jo Pacifiquessa, Jackissä ja Danceteriassa ja herrat nähdään tulevina viikkoina muunmuassa Tampereen ONE-klubilla 27.3. Viimeisimpien keikka- ja studiokuulumisien lisäksi kaksikko pyöräyttää tulevan raitansa Hold On.

Lisäksi lautasilla uusi re-edit Deepskyn Talk Like A Strangerista sekä uusi remix Tiltin The World Doesn’t Know -hitistä, Tom Fall, Solarstone & DJ Orkidea, Tomcraft, Thomas Feijk, Rank1, Planetary Assault Systems, Speedy J sekä viikon vinyyli.

This Saturday it’s time for one of the most awaited annual electronic music events in Finland. Pacifique, held in Serena waterpark, the biggest spa in Scandinavia, gathers couple of dozen of DJs and artists (incl. legendary Danny Rampling) and 1500 clubbers to enjoy the 32C heat, humidity and beats.

It’s going to be a night to remember, especially after a winter this cold. I’ll be opening the main stage with 1h hour Pacifique style chill-out set starting at 18:30. For those who haven’t ever been there that early – the first moments of the event are truly magical – empty waterpark, still pools, gathering people, slowly moving lights above the waters – literally calm before the storm.
